Payments & Transfers: What You Can and Can’t Do
This guide explains what types of payments are supported based on your location and relationship to the sender or recipient.
If You Live Outside the United States
What’s Allowed
Sending or receiving money from your own bank, fintech account, or brokerage
Receiving payments from:
A registered business, or
A family member with the same last name
Person-to-person (P2P) payments under USD 4,000, as long as there is a clear and legitimate reason for the payment
What’s Not Allowed
Receiving money from unrelated third parties
Using your account to:
Move money on behalf of others
Provide currency exchange services
Act as a payment intermediary
If You Live in the United States
What’s Allowed
Sending or receiving money from your own bank, fintech account, or brokerage
Receiving payroll or wage payments from a verified employer
Receiving payments from third parties in most states
Note: Third-party payments are not available in Texas or Pennsylvania.
What’s Not Allowed
Using your account for money transmission or intermediary payment flows
Receiving payments from unrelated third parties without a clear invoice or employment relationship
Understanding Payment Types
First-Party Payments
These are payments where you are moving your own money.
Example:
Sending funds from your personal bank account to your account to convert USD to USDC.
Third-Party Payments
These involve money sent or received on behalf of someone else.
Examples include:
A business paying a vendor
A platform collecting payments from customers
A payroll provider paying employees
Acceptable Third-Party Payments
Third-party payments are supported when they have a clear purpose, such as:
Paying a vendor or contractor
Collecting payments as a platform or marketplace
Paying employee wages
P2P payments under USD 4,000 with a valid invoice or explanation
What’s Not Allowed Third-Party Payments

Third-party payments are not supported for users located in:
Texas
Pennsylvania
